Job Description
Service Description : The ICHD AmeriCorps State Program is pleased to announce that we are looking for a passionate individual to join our team from April 29th 2024-August 31st, 2024. The ICHD AmeriCorps State Program has placed AmeriCorps members throughout Ingham County for 17 years to increase healthy lifestyle habits and food access to reduce chronic disease in residents by focusing on two project goals: 1. Increase consumption of healthy, fresh, locally sourced foods through free food distributions. 2. Teach community members the importance of a healthy lifestyle and strategies to adopt better habits. Member Duties : Member Duties : South Side Community Coalition is a neighborhood center that opened in 2003 and provides a range of services to neighbors on Lansing’s south side. Some of the programming we offer the community includes; After School programs and tutoring; Senior Luncheons; Food commodity distribution; Nutrition and health care forums; Summer breakfast and lunch programs; Summer youth programs and a garden club. Member will be responsible for healthy lifestyle programming at SSCC. Programming will include assisting/managing weekly food distributions, nutrition education, gardening education and ability to maintain the centers hoop house. Responsibilities fluctuate by season. Program Benefits : Training , Education award upon successful completion of service , Living Allowance . Terms : Car recommended , Permits attendance at school during off hours , Permits working at another job during off hours . Service Areas : Health , Hunger .
