Job Title: Hotel/Event Sales Manager

Summary: The Hotel/Event Sales Manager is responsible for driving event and property sales to achieve occupancy and revenue goals through the development and implementation of a strategic sales plan and customer-focused internal systems. This role involves booking a variety of events, including weddings, large parties, and room blocks. The Sales Manager will collaborate closely with the restaurant and banquet teams to ensure a seamless and positive experience for all clients and guests. Key responsibilities include cultivating client relationships, conducting site visits, preparing proposals, and managing the overall event coordination process to deliver exceptional service and exceed client expectations.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience required.
  • Event and hotel sales management experience highly preferred.
  • Experience using Windows-based software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook highly preferred.
  • Experience with Opera hotel property management software.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with customers.
  • Strong selling and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • May be required to travel.
  • Use of personal vehicle may be required.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule. Weekends and some nights may be required.

Essential Job Functions

Account Management and New Business Development

  • Responsible for overseeing the retention and acquisition of accounts by growing existing accounts and generating new business to a level that meets or exceeds sales forecasts.
  • Execute all aspects of the sales plans to surpass revenue goals. This includes making outside sales calls and cold calls while maintaining relationships with current accounts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key clients. Creates and solicits new business through innovative means.
  • Overall responsible for meeting or exceeding hotels occupancy budget/goals, as well as restaurant sales goals/budget.

Sales Supervisory Functions

  • Develop positive relationships with the community at large, customers/guests and vendors on behalf of the hotel and restaurant.
  • Develop partnerships with professional organizations and associations.
  • In conjunction with the Banquet Manager (if applicable) supervises event staff and ensures appropriate staffing as needed.
  • In conjunction with the Banquet Manager (if applicable), develops an accurate Banquet Event Order (BEO) with event customers, and communicates that to the hotel and restaurant management and staff.
  • In conjunction with the Banquet Manager (if applicable), oversees events to ensure that they are executed according to the Banquet Event Order as outlined by the customer.
  • Train and coordinate appropriate staff to serve as back-up in taking inquiry calls and giving tours of the property using appropriate skills.
  • Research and maintain on-going knowledge of the current market and competitors including rates, special services and specials. Complete a competitive analysis as requested.
  • Develop and manage monthly or quarterly sales plans as directed.
  • Utilize companys sales lead management system on a daily basis to manage day-to-day sales tasks, understand customer referral patterns, and effectively utilize data to improve sales and develop sales plans.
  • Ensure that responses to inquiries are handled properly, timely and with appropriate follow-up.
  • Alert appropriate staff and management of projected events, group blocks, etc. by chairing stand-up meetings.
  • Develop and implement special events and presentations targeted at community awareness.

Customer/Guest Service

  • Responsible for ensuring that all employees are providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Reinforce company standards of customer service and create a high-quality customer experience.
  • Offer guests assistance whenever possible.
  • Responsible for assisting in resolving escalated customer relations issues.
  • Answers inquiries pertaining to hotel policies and services.
  • Must appropriately address guest requests to ensure customers are satisfied with the hotels services and accommodations.
  • Responsible for positively representing and promoting the property.

Training

  • Provide in-service training as needed and/or requested.

Other

  • Follow and communicate company policies and procedures.
  • Provide written reports as requested by the General Manager.

Working Conditions (travel, hours and environment)

  • Able to work full-time, with some weekend work.
  • Availability by phone or page 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
  • Some travel may be required periodically
