This position plays a crucial part in supporting the Human Systems Integration (HSI) Division within the Veterans Health Administration, which is dedicated to enhancing the usability, safety, and overall supportability of VA systems. Through focused analysis and timely insights into design tradeoffs involving human performance, staffing, training, and system safety, the objective is to optimize system performance and minimize lifecycle costs.

Within the domain of HSI, the division embraces "human factors" as the scientific discipline concerned with understanding interactions among humans and other elements within a system, while human factors engineering is the profession that applies theory, principles, data, and methods to design in order to optimize human well-being and overall system performance. While all our endeavors employ human factors methods and techniques, projects vary significantly in terms of end user involvement, the inclusion of Healthcare Information HIT systems, and the level of effort required to complete them.

Key Responsibilities:
A Human Factors Engineer Expert will leverage their deep understanding of research and industry trends, employing state-of-the-art knowledge in findings and methodologies to develop strategies, evaluations, and designs for assessing products and processes. They will showcase their capacity to foresee how design modifications to products will affect all users. During live demonstration calls, the engineer will offer insightful suggestions and effectively respond to participant feedback in any type of user session. In this capacity, they will contribute to driving value and fostering organizational change and operational excellence by empowering high-performing Agile teams.
