Summary: The Information Security Specialist position is a role that requires a combination of technical expertise, critical thinking, and business-oriented project management.
You will primarily work on advancing NISC's information security initiatives by managing various information security technologies, performing patch management duties, maintaining a set of critical security controls, supporting several information security audits, and supporting NISC's information security policies and procedures.
**Schedule: This position will be on our Tuesday-Friday, 3:00pm-1:00am CST shift.
**Essential Duties: Assist in monitoring the integrity of NISC's data and network infrastructure.
Assist in evaluating information security systems and computer network defenses in accordance with industry best practices.
Serve as a front-line resource to other employees regarding information security.
Assist in monitoring security vulnerabilities in NISC's systems and routing issues for remediation.
Assist with maintaining a system of critical security controls.
Assist in responding to information security incidents that trigger NISC's incident response plan.
Assist in delivering employee security education programs.
Other duties as assigned.

Basic level knowledge of the principles behind security compliance, policies and procedures.
Basic level knowledge of setup and support of Linux and Microsoft Windows server and desktop operating systems.

Basic level knowledge of the Utility and Telecom industries.
Basic level knowledge of Project Management processes and theory.

Education Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in a cybersecurity or networking-related field or equivalent experience.
