The Division of Adult Institutions is seeking to fill an Institution Unit Supervisor position, located at Green Bay Correctional Institution, Green Bay, WI.

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Deputy Warden, this position is responsible for the security, treatment and general living conditions of all PIOC assigned to the unit. The Unit Supervisor is an Administrator responsible for all activities within the unit including but not limited to Supervising of Correctional Officers, Sergeants and social workers; develops implements and monitors overall institution goals, policies and procedures as part of the institution management team; and directs an institution-wide program.
Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule/range 81-34 with an annual salary of $95,680 - $110,843 plus excellent benefits. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the State Compensation Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code, and statutes. A twelve-month probationary period is required.
Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have experience in the following:
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating treatment and/or specialized programs (e.g. treatment, clinical, and/or social services, education, religious programs, structured activities).
  • Developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating security standards, policies and/or procedures in a secure setting.
  • Performing supervision or lead worker related activities (e.g. assigning, directing, and/evaluating work; disciplinary matters, hiring, providing training/mentoring).
In addition to the above, well qualified applicant will have experience in the following:
  • Managing and supervising the operating procedures of a work unit.
  • Participating in multi-disciplinary teams or approaches in the development, implementation and review of programs.
