Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The position (K0244697) Recruitment: Working with the Workforce Development Coordinator and Recruitment team create the Career Fairs schedule for KDHE. Reviewing the schedule with the recruitment team and bureau directors. Working to get the approved schedule staffed and funded.
Update the career fair spreadsheet and the recruiting team informed when registered and invoiced. Will also participate in attending the career fairs with staff to educate the internships and careers available within KDHE. Reach out to universities and schedule college visits for recruitment team and Bureau Directors throughout the agency.
Will keep track of the resumes received from the career fairs. Promote available internships and careers to interested students with instructions where they can apply for. Also will be responsible for scheduling college classroom visits and any requests from the universities.
Recruit and source for open intern positions. Administers the onboarding of all new interns, sending out hire letters. assuring Orientation attendance, new hire paperwork completed and follow up with the new interns on a regular basis. Update the Intern Spreadsheet regularly.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Coordination and Outreach: Complete internship off-boarding program, to build data backing regarding intern experience, development, and skills building within the programs through which the internship was designed, to improve intern experience. Procure surveys from management regarding intern development, including skills developed, type of mentorship provided, learning program in which management provided for intern, etc. Procure surveys from interns regarding area in which the intern worked, perceptions of interns regarding work that was completed for KDHE, and overall experience in internship program. Outreach to schools: high schools, trade schools, universities, community colleges, etc., to build partnerships with school programs that will expand on the internship and scholarship programs and improve intern pipelines into KDHE. Conduct site visits to expand outreach to these various groups. Develop partnerships with scholarship and internship related organizations, websites, stakeholders, KDHE related partners, etc., to expand on scholarship and internship opportunities available to interns, staff, perspective interns, perspective staff etc. With the direct supervisor coordinate the development of a centralized platform that will be updated regularly and that will provide prospective interns, supervisors etc., with a location in which to find connection opportunities both internally and externally at KDHE.
