Position Summary
The Life and Annuity Claims Examiner I works within the Claims Team to review, analyze, and adjudicate life and annuity claims in accordance with the contract, company policy, and state regulations. Examiners are customer facing and central to creating and delivering seamless service excellence in support of the mission of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and assess claims under supervision in an accurate, timely, and fair manner
- Enter accurate claim information into systems to assure correct claim or benefit payment, and document cases thoroughly and clearly for review
- Communicate claims action/processing via telephone, email, and mail with claimant, customer, and agent
- Resolve basic claims-related questions and situational problems using critical judgement and standard work processes
- Manage caseload of in-process claims commensurate with experience level using effective and efficient process and time management
- Commit to professional growth and development, including taking industry courses and obtaining industry designations
Experience
- 1-3 years of financial services, medical, or health care administration experience
- Life insurance and annuity industry experience is a plus
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree is a plus, but applicants of various backgrounds are encouraged to apply
