Job Summary
The LR Specialist will be responsible for maintaining a working relationship with union representatives in the assigned area and handling all labor relations activities for that area. This may include represented or unrepresented employees.

The primary activities will include labor contract negotiations and administration, administration of the union and non-union grievance procedures, participating in grievance arbitrations, defense of labor board actions.
Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. In coordination with management, develops bargaining strategies for labor contract negotiations. Arranges for and schedules contract negotiations with the various union locals.

2. Assists with labor contract negotiations. Prepares, coordinates the printing of, and distributes new labor agreements.

3. In association with management, proposes changes to and prepares employee handbook supplements for the non-union locations.
4. Under supervision of labor manager, will administers the grievance procedures for non-union and union facilities, including administration of a database of grievances. Assist management in preparing responses to employee grievances. Represents management in the last step of the non-union and union grievance meetings.
5. Assist management at arbitration and prepares hearing briefs in support of management's case.
6. Investigates, researches, and prepares for Labor Board issues as assigned.
7. With help from labor managers provides advice and counsel to management personnel in the administration and interpretation of labor agreements, employee handbooks and supplements, and policies applicable to union and non-union employees.

8. With assistance from labor managers, provides advice and counsel to management regarding investigations and any resulting discipline related to both union and non-union employees.
9. Assists with management's information campaigns to address union organizing activities.
Education/Experience:
Master’s degree in labor/industrial relations or related field with some intern or entry level related experience in labor relations.
Or, Bachelor's degree in labor/industrial relations or related field with 1+ years of demonstrated competency in labor relations or HR generalist experience.
