Service Description: The ICHD AmeriCorps State Program is pleased to announce that we are looking for a passionate individual to join our team from April 29th, 2024-Auguest 31st, 2024. The ICHD AmeriCorps State Program has placed AmeriCorps members throughout Ingham County for 17 years to increase healthy lifestyle habits and food access to reduce chronic disease in residents by focusing on two project goals: 1. Increase consumption of healthy, fresh, locally sourced foods through free food distributions. 2. Teach community members the importance of a healthy lifestyle and strategies to adopt better habits. All positions are placed in the greater Lansing, MI area. Member Duties : Member Duties : This is a part time position house at South Lansing Community Development Association (SLCDA). SLCDA is located in S. Lansing, MI. SLCDA engages residents and stakeholders in the development/implementation of programs and initiatives that improve community health and quality of life in South Lansing. Programming of SLCDA include a South Lansing Urban Garden, South Lansing Farmers Market, a community kitchen, linking neighbors up with local/state resources and other initiatives that empower residents. The AmeriCorps member will provide programming for and with: community garden management for SLCDA's hoop house and community garden site, gardening education to south side neighbors, volunteer recruitment/ management and the organization of growing produce for food distribution. Member will receive a living stipend of $5291, distributed bi-weekly in even increments. Upon successful completion of service member will receive an education award in the amount of $1956.35.
