The Find Your Flex Group are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our partners who are a prominent Scientific Instrumentation company, dedicated to Material Characterization. Our technologies contribute to innovations in electric cars, 3D printing, battery efficiency, environmental sustainability, food processing, and more. Material Science lies at the heart of these advancements.

We are seeking an experienced Lead Software Developer to join our Research and Development team at our New Castle, Delaware site. This role is pivotal in driving our Thermal Analysis and Rheology software solutions forward in the realm of material science. The successful candidate will be responsible for product architecture, technology decisions, and enhancing software across various computing environments. A proactive attitude and initiative are essential for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test instrument system software to seamlessly integrate with firmware and hardware components, following API-first principles.
  • Lead by example, establishing development best practices, conducting code reviews, and mentoring junior team members.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to refine requirements, plan deliverables, and incorporate technological perspectives into solutions.
  • Develop strategies for software development, workload organization, and project management to ensure timely and quality delivery.
  • Track project progress and provide regular updates to leadership.
  • Ensure delivered products meet customer requirements and specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of software engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in C# and C++ with concurrent systems.
  • Experience with Web Services integration (REST, WSDL/SOAP, XML, JSON).
  • Strong understanding of architecting complex systems for scalability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Track record of leading teams to successful product launches in cross-functional environments.
  • Ability to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable with project metrics generation and tracking.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Analytical Instrumentation.
  • Enterprise application development in C#.
  • Familiarity with cloud architecture (IaaS), modern communication protocols, and security.
  • Front-end development skills (Server-side rendering, JavaScript).
  • Knowledge of on-device development and interfacing with embedded systems (IoT, Edge, instrumentation).
  • Proficiency in API design, protocols, and architectures.
  • Experience in creating roadmaps, milestones, and reporting on project progress and risks.
  • Background in working within cross-functional product teams with hardware and software components.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
