Role Description:
  • The Library Operations Manager is a staff position responsible for managing student workers, circulation, scheduling, budget management, accounts payable, and coordination of maintenance issues.
  • The student workers' management includes hiring, training, scheduling, and submitting payroll.
  • Library circulation duties include payment for lost items and notifications for overdue materials.
  • Coordination of library hours and faculty/staff schedules.
  • Maintenance of the general library calendar, including extensive room scheduling.
  • Budget management (including budget records in WMS, Beam Library’s integrated library system).
  • Cash reconciliation, including book sale payments.
  • Timely payment of invoices.
  • Issues that may arise day to day, including maintenance issues.
  • Knowledge of standard office software (e.g., Google Apps, Microsoft Office), social media platforms, and web-based communication, information, and collaboration tools.
  • Willingness to assist and support coworkers, contribute ideas, and maintain flexibility.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing library technology environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to perform close detail work involving considerable visual effort and concentration.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain cooperative, courteous, and effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Knowledge of library information technology, systems, products, and delivery technologies (e.g., OCLC) is preferred but not required.
  • Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position
  • Lifting and carrying: 50 pounds or less
  • Pushing and pulling: objects weighing 300-400 pounds on wheels.
