Position Highlights
The library team at the College of Medicine - Phoenix invites applicants to apply for a rewarding career on a growing health sciences campus. As part of the team, this individual will provide library assistance to students, staff, and faculty of the University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University, as well as community patrons. Library Services Associates are the library’s front-line customer service personnel and staff the front desk during all public service hours.

Note: This position will have a non-traditional work schedule which may include evenings and weekends.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assists library patrons in locating materials and using catalogs, databases and indexes.
  • Answers questions that require basic library science knowledge and consultation.
  • Assists in maintaining collections, databases, circulation records, inventories and/or archives.
  • Assists librarians with displays, LibGuides, handouts, and other educational materials.
  • Assists librarians with instruction or representation of the library at campus events.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic library operations including circulation of materials and research assistance.
  • Familiarity with common productivity tools such as MicroSoft Office and Google Drive.
  • Ability to manage time and balance priorities when working with minimal supervision.
  • Resourcefulness in solving problems and meeting customer needs.
  • Ability to enforce library policies regarding food, noise, and behavior.
  • Proficiency completing special projects such as shelf reading as assigned by librarians.
  • Familiarity with maintaining inventories of library supplies and materials.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience providing front-line customer service to library users in person and via phone and email.
  • Experience opening and closing library following established procedures.
