Status: Seasonal Hourly (Non-exempt)

Arapahoe Basin Lift Operators enjoy interacting with guests and aim to provide exceptional customer service every day.

This position ensures that Lift Operators throughout the department are performing their job duties safely and efficiently on a daily basis.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Act as Manager or Asst. Manager in their absence
  • Assist Lift Operations management with scheduling, payroll, coaching, disciplinary actions, and other essential administrative functions
  • Partner with Leaders at A-Basin to embed diversity equity and inclusion competency and practices across teams to develop and support a respectful and safe workplace.
  • Train and encourage employees to actively participate in sustainability initiatives and support them in maintaining sustainable practices.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate on-mountain training of Lift Operators; maintain the Lift Terminal Specific Training documents
  • Be responsible for Lead training and documentation
  • Work closely with the Risk Management Team in regards to the Safety Plan and Fit for Snow Program
  • Aid with Morning Meetings; address the following topics: paychecks, TCA sheets, safety topics, Guest Service topics, etc.
  • Assist with 30-day and 60-day reviews of Lift Operators
  • Be in charge of daily grooming e-mails; delegate related duties before, during, and after lift operating hours
  • Coordinate staffing levels with regard to business volumes
  • Help with fraudulent lift passes, lift incidents, and guest complaints
  • Assume the duties of the Lift Operations Lead and Operator when necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:

Experience Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of previous experience working as an A-Basin Lift Ops Lead or similar role
  • Complete all departmental safety trainings and snowblower training
  • Complete all drive terminal training checklists

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Skills Required:

  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to swing and bump chairs on all A-Basin lifts requiring this technique
  • Ability to operate a snowmobile in a safe manner
  • Ability to ski or snowboard at an intermediate level or higher
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English

Physical Requirements: (with or without reasonable accommodation)

  • Ability to withstand high altitude conditions at all times
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout a shift
  • Ability to use full range of body motion and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, twist, kneel, squat, crawl, push, pull, carry, and throw
  • Ability to safely climb ladders
  • Ability to visually and audibly inspect machinery for irregularities

Other Requirements:

  • Must be available weekends and holidays
  • Must provide own ski/snowboard equipment
  • Must pass a motor vehicle records background check - preferred

Work Environment:

  • This position will work outdoors in a high-alpine environment in all types of weather conditions. Noise levels of machinery can be high and exposure to heights is frequent. You will work with guests frequently on a daily basis. Riding a chairlift is required for this role.
