Job Description

Position Summary:
Lumen is seeking a highly motivated entry level LIMS Administrator to provide administrative and technical support for Lumen’s laboratory notebook, workflow, and inventory management software.
As a member of a small and highly collaborative informatics team, this position will partner with diverse stakeholders at every stage of Lumen’s product development pipeline. The position will play a key role in helping administer Lumen’s laboratory notebook and LIMS to support efficient and accurate information capture. This role will provide training and support to laboratory end users and will engage in the development, testing, deployment, and documentation of system changes. The successful candidate will have a strong service mentality, solutions focus, and advocate for data management best-practices, championing the value of quality electronic record keeping and information sharing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The major tasks for this position are as follows:
  • Conduct user training for laboratory notebook and LIMS software (Benchling).
  • Manage help ticket queue, triage, communicate with third-party vendors, and escalate support requests as needed.
  • Perform system administration, LIMS maintenance, and user access administration.
  • Carry out systems analysis to identify information gaps and inefficiencies; engage with stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain software system life cycles - gather requirements, document changes, assist in the creation and deployment of new configurations (e.g. entity schemas, result tables, templates), run testing, train end-users, and evaluate acceptance.
  • Communicate with diverse stakeholders to ensure configurations meet all scientific, quality compliance, business, and operational requirements.
  • Author and contribute to change management records, requirement specifications, validation/testing scripts, reports, and training materials.
  • Uphold best practices for software configuration, account management, and upkeep; helping to ensure overall data integrity.
  • Assist with data migrations and the design of inventory label templates.
  • Help to build a company-wide culture that values robust data capture and sharing.
Desired and Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. degree and relevant work experience. This experience may involve software implementation/administration, project management, and/or laboratory operations.
  • Experience with laboratory data management systems (e.g., ELNs, registries, LIMS, LIS)
  • Proficient with Office 365 and other cloud productivity software

Desired Experience:

  • Help desk operations
  • Familiarity with relational databases and knowledge of SQL
  • Exposure to biotechnology laboratories
  • Familiarity with GxP, CFR 21 Part 11, and systems validation

Physical Requirements

  • Sit for extended periods of time (2 or more hours)
This is a full-time position with a pay range of $30-$32 per hour + stock bonus.
