Job Description

The Machine Operator is responsible for operating CNC milling machines (mills) or CNC turning machines (lathes) to produce precision metal parts according to specifications. Operator may also be tasked with operating manual equipment, such as a bandsaw or belt sander. This role involves understanding supplied documents, monitoring the machining process, and making required changes (if allowed) to ensure high-quality output.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Machine Operation:

  • Receive work instructions (written or verbal) to understand job requirements.
  • Operate lathe or mill to produce parts.
  • Monitor machine operations to maintain product quality and output.
  • Maintain equipment/tooling as needed/instructed.

Quality Control:

  • Inspect finished products for conformance to provided specifications.
  • Report any non-conformities or issues in the production process to the supervisor.
  • With assistance from machinist or supervisor, make necessary adjustments to correct deviations.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Follow established procedures and standard practices for operating cnc machines.
  • Comply with relevant regulations and standards governing the manufacturing process.

Collaboration:

  • Coordinate with other team members to ensure efficient production processes.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues to address any issues related to the machining process.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational or technical training is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Previous experience in a machine shop and manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of basic shop math (trigonometry, fractions, Metric to Standard conversions, etc.)
  • Basic understanding and comprehension of blueprints / engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of machine tooling, materials, and machining processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and a commitment to workplace safety.
  • Willingness to learn and improve.

Physical Requirements:

  • The role may require standing for extended periods and working in a manufacturing environment with potential exposure to noise, dust, and other environmental factors. This role will involve running more than one machine at a time, as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
