Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor

Department: Maintenance


Reports To: Maintenance Director

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of Maintenance Technicians and the overall maintenance and upkeep of Vista Care properties in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate projects and repairs with local vendors, as determined appropriate.
  • Have knowledge of state and federal laws, codes and regulations that apply to maintenance services and records of Vista Care facilities. Able to ensure compliance with regulations as they relate to maintenance department and life safety code.
  • Inspect each facility on a routine basis to ensure that the grounds, facility, and equipment are properly maintained.
  • Provide direct supervision and oversight to maintenance technician level I and II positions, including monitoring of performance, provision of feedback/training, evaluation, corrective action, timecard approval, etc.
  • Develop and mentor the maintenance technicians; engaging in routine 1:1’s.
  • Assure direct reports adhere to approved budgeted hours and assure overtime is kept within accepted targets.
  • Monitor the physical site maintenance and improvement, assuring compliance with regulatory agencies, person served safety and organizational standards, taking immediate action to communicate maintenance issues and correct problems, as they occur.
  • Assess possible areas of risk and/or liability and report identified issues to the supervisor in accordance with stated expectations.
  • Maintain detailed records of all assignments in Vista Care’s maintenance system.
  • Assure that the philosophy, policies, procedures, and protocols established by Vista Care are fulfilled and consistently adhered to.
  • Practice sound management techniques and principles in carrying out all responsibilities.
  • Represent the organization in a professional and responsible manner to personnel, outside agencies, and the community.
  • Promote a positive, supportive attitude toward individuals served, personnel and the organization, designed to increase overall customer satisfaction.
  • Assist Maintenance Director with various maintenance tasks, as requested.
  • Responsible for maintaining assigned maintenance vehicles, as applicable.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of competency using computers, multiple programs, and databases.
  • Demonstrates technical knowledge and analytic ability to diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions.
  • Exhibits problem solving and team building skills.
  • Delegates tasks and responsibilities to maintenance technicians in an effective, positive, and efficient manner
  • Considerable knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures regarding maintenance functions.
  • Considerable knowledge of proper safety precautions regarding building, grounds, and equipment maintenance.
  • Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.
  • Manage Incoming and Outgoing Work Orders through company platforms.
  • Maintain company security regarding program keys, keyless entry codes, etc.

Education/Experience:

  • Degree or Certifications in Maintenance field is required
  • Have at least 2 years of on-going supervisory or management experience
  • Have at least 7 years of experience in a related trade

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds using appropriate body mechanics.
  • Must be able to bend, push, pull, reach, twist, sit and walk for longs periods at a time.
  • Must be willing to work outside, as determined appropriate for the task at hand.
  • Must be available outside of normal business hours to respond to emergency situations.
