Maintenance Technician

Full-time/ Non-Exempt – $19 to $21 per hour depending on experience.

COMMUNITY PROFILE

Sun City Anthem (SCA) is a Del Webb developed community located in Henderson, Nevada, the second largest city in Nevada, with a population of nearly 330,000 residents. Developed in 1998, the beautiful and expansive 55+ active adult community covers 3,500 acres with 7,144 homes. SCA is home to approximately 12,500 total residents.

The community is governed by a seven-member Board of Directors who typically serve two-year terms. SCA amenities and facilities include three clubhouses with 130,000 square feet of recreational space including three indoor swimming pools, two outdoor pools, tennis courts, pickle ball, bocce, a 300-seat performing arts theatre, fitness centers, group exercise rooms, privately owned and operated day spa, and a grand ballroom.

SCA has nearly 60 chartered clubs and maintains a Community Patrol, a Community Service Group, a Neighborhood Watch Program, and an Emergency Preparedness Service Group.

POSITION SUMMARY

This is a full-time staff position reporting directly to the Facilities Manager or in his or her absence to the Facilities Director/Assistant Director. This position serves as a general maintenance technician for the community association (“Association”) at Sun City Anthem. Responsibilities include performing technical and general facility maintenance functions. Ensure that all support and service is conducted by trade code and fulfilled in a manner consistent with the standards, goals, and objectives of the Association.

  • Able to see well enough to read faint writing or printing, with corrective lenses if needed.

  • Must be always mentally alert and demonstrate good reasoning skills.
  • Must be able to manage one’s own time.

  • Must be able to drive appropriate vehicles and possess the necessary driver’s license required by the state with an acceptable driving record.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESEssential responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
  • Perform specific and general maintenance tasks at all 3 buildings under the responsibility of the Facilities Manager and the Facilities Director/Assistant Director.
  • Performs all technical and general maintenance repairs too electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems including carpentry and painting.
  • Provide assistance with delivery of supplies, materials and equipment to various areas.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Respond to all emergencies.
  • Required to be on call after hours.
  • Communicates and interacts with all levels of personnel in receiving direction and clarification in accomplishing tasks.
  • Comply with the Association’s safety program and meet Cal OSHA requirements and standards.
  • Maintain accurate Recording Keeping (Daily Log, Time Clock, etc.).
  • Provide assistance with delivery and pick up of supplies, materials, and equipment to various areas.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Facilities Director or Assistant Director.
  • Check your in-box daily.
  • Must be able to multi-task.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Position involves stooping, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, grasping, climbing, and otherwise moving objects. This activity can occur several times throughout the day.
  • Ability to work on a ladder or mechanical lift at heights of up to 20 feet.
  • May be required to work with toxic and/or dangerous chemicals. (Training and Personal Protective Equipment will be required to safely execute this requirement)
  • Ability to speak in a clear and understandable voice so that communication may be conducted with people of various levels of education and capabilities.
  • Ability to read well enough to see obscure or faint printing with or without corrective lenses. This includes, but is not limited to, blueprints.
  • Ability to work in small and confined spaces for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to operate a vehicle in conditions which sometimes can be hazardous in a safe manner without injury to oneself or others.
  • Mentally alert and detailed oriented with good reasoning skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position will be performed both indoors and outdoors. When indoors the lighting will be fluorescent lighting. Outside you may be subject to the elements of wind, rain, cold, wet and extreme heat.
  • May be required to work with toxic and/or dangerous chemicals. (Training and Personal Protective Equipment will be required to safely execute this requirement)
  • Must be able to remain focused and work effectively, efficiently, and cheerfully always.
  • For safety reasons, an employee must remain alert to working conditions and aware of safety, health, and environmental concerns.

EQUIPMENT USED

  • Operation of the following equipment: electrical hand tools (drill, grinder, sander, skill saw, table saw, tile saw, welding torch, etc.), carpentry hand tools (hammer, screwdriver, wrenches, pliers, etc.).
  • Computer, printer, mouse, copier, fax, scanner, multi-line telephone/voice mail, digital camera, walkie-talkie, and VMS

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • High School Graduate or its equivalent.
  • 3 to 5 years of job experience preferred.
  • Possess a valid Nevada driver’s license.

SAFETY

  • Incumbent is required to comply with established safe work practices and attend all safety-related training provided or made available by the Association.
