Job Description

Please Note: This position is hybrid work (three days OnSite, two days work from home) - the headquaters for OnSite work is in San Juan, Puerto Rico. All applicants must be able to work on site.

Summary
The Manager, Information Technology (Software Engineering) directly supervises application development and is responsible for day-to-day performance and delivery of applications to the business and clients. Ensures quality delivery of application development in support of the Digital first strategy aligned with customer value proposition, and corporate culture at our client. The position will be responsible for execution and implementation management of the Banks technology initiatives including platform launch and related activities. This role also minimizes risk to the business through change management practices. Position works hybrid based in San Juan, PR.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Take ownership of key development projects, ensuring that the software aligns with business goals, timelines, and expectations, and effectively manage technical risks to deliver expected solutions.
  • Design and implement high quality user experiences that delight our customers.
  • Work with and lead remote / offshore teams, as part of a larger remote team.
  • Participate in ideation and work with stakeholders to improve product directions.
  • Work with business partner and Solution Architects teams to achieve cross-organizational goals.
  • Be comfortable with a fast-paced environment and a high level of ambiguity.
  • Create and manage a consistent solution review process for assessing, integrating, and implementing vendor solutions for functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Support the implementation of technology policies, processes and standards for testing, implementation, production, and support of the banking platforms.
  • Prepare test strategy, plans, and cases; drive quality of technology by managing planning, communication, and improvement plans.
  • Facilitate brainstorming, decision making, conflict resolution, and solutioning of new processes and actions.
  • Reviews requests for additional data services and identifies their effect on current and planned resources.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineer or any related field required. Master degree in Computer Science or Engineering are highly desirable.
  • Eight (8) years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Python, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript required. Five (5) years supervising and leading IT/technical team managing innovation projects.
  • The minimum education and experience required can be substituted with the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.
  • Fully bilingual - English and Spanish (written and verbal) required.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge in software solutions such as Amazon Web Services (AWS API Gateway, Lambda), Microsoft Azure, Azure API Management and Functions, Angular, CloudFormation, CodeCommit, Django, Google Cloud Functions, .Net among others.
  • A broad understanding of the financial services industry, its products, practices, and operations is highly desired.
  • Must be able to simplify or translate into layperson's terminology all the technical information available.
  • Strategic design and defend high quality user experiences that delight customers.
  • Able to work on several important projects simultaneously observing the defined quality standards.
  • Able to learn from new technologies as they emerge and integrate them into our current infrastructure.
