Hill's Pet Nutrition Richmond Plant, a part of Colgate-Palmolive company, is looking for a Material Receiver!


Job Summary

The Material Receiver will be responsible for all functions & tasks related to receiving indirect packaging materials as well as ingredients. This position will also stage materials for packaging lines, performing inventory related activities, complete the master sanitation functions, master the coordination of production materials, adhere to all safety compliance standards, participate in data collection, maintain 5S Visual Workplace, team problem solving, and overall production support.

  • Perform all SAP, Quality, and operational aspects of receiving indirect packaging material, minor ingredients, and packaging materials

  • Stage packaging material for packaging operators in a designated location for production

  • Perform all sanitation activities for the area as outlined by the site’s sanitation plans

  • Works to insure all ingredients and packaging are handled in a safe manner in compliance with all Colgate requirements

  • Conduct confirmations on receiving and movement of ingredients and packaging to ensure accurate inventory

  • Perform all vital SAP transactions to insure accurate inventory and use of packaging materials

  • Perform other tasks to assist with shift as needed

  • Identify and report Food Safety issues to management. Understand and comply with Hill’s policies, safety standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Food Safety

Education/ Experience Requirements


Basic qualifications include:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 2 + years of manufacturing experience

  • Basic computer skills (ability to access, input and retrieve information)

  • Basic knowledge of Google applications


Preferred qualifications include:

  • Packaging or receiving experience

  • Experience with SAP

  • Manufacturing experience in human, pet food, pharmaceuticals or a related field

  • Food safety experience and/or Forklift experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally per day.

  • Bend at waist 90 degrees and flex at knees 120 degrees 100 to 500 times for 12 hours

  • Climb steps and/or ladders 30 times per 12hours, 45 steps per trip

  • Walk unlimited distances very workday

  • Wear dust masks and hearing protection

  • Perceive visual and audible alarms and telephones while wearing hearing protection

  • Receive and transmit radio communication

  • Ability to perform tasks in an environment that contains significant levels of dust

  • Able to sit, type, and use a computer keyboard: two (2) to three (3) hours per day

Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $ - $ USD

Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:

  • Insurance: Employees (and their eligible dependents) are eligible to participate in Company-sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Disability insurance plans.
  • Retirement Plans: Employees are eligible to enroll in Colgate's 401(k) plan, which provides for company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements
  • Vacation/PTO: Employees receive a minimum of 15 days of vacation/PTO leave annually
  • Paid Holidays: Employees receive a minimum of 13 paid/floating holidays annually
  • Paid Sick Leave: Based on location and consistent with applicable state and local law, employees receive a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year
  • Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
