Purpose:
  • Works throughout the facility in different areas installing, troubleshooting and repairing industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • A Mechanic uses a wide variety of hand tools as well as measuring tools to support forge operations


Major Position Responsibilities

  • While installing, troubleshooting and repairing industrial manufacturing equipment, a Mechanic regularly reads and comprehends mechanical drawings. Regularly rebuilds and modifies machinery by crawling and working under or inside of. Constantly uses hand tools to assist in the completion of these tasks
  • Works with and follows Basic Rules of Manufacturing, General Dynamics OTS Environmental Policy, ISO Documentation, Quality Policy and other work related policies.
  • At all times demonstrates common safety practices associated with the manufacturing environment and the use of hand or industrial equipment. Follows lockout/ tagout and confined space entry procedures. Adhere to hazardous material storage and handling at all times
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications

Required Education/Experience:
  • A mechanical degree from a college or technical school or any combination of education, training or work related experience that, in the eyes of a supervisor, would qualify the individual to meet the majority of the items listed in the assessment.
  • 3+ years of experience in a heavy manufacturing setting


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to assess and troubleshoot issues and make repairs to equipment, handle PM's and other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills are a must.
  • Candidate must be willing to work flexible hours when needed.
