- Maintains the general appearance and cleanliness of exam rooms
- Maintains timely flow of patients
- Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination. Takes and documents patient histories including medications and drug allergies, and recording vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, pulseox)
- Assists physician during patient examinations, with procedures and collection of specimens
- Schedule for procedures and surgeries with hospital and surgical facilities
- Sterilizing medical instruments after use
- Restocking supplies, maintains inventory
- Performs post void residual urine test (PVR) exams, draws blood, collects urine samples, performs office lab procedures and documents results, and coordinates all specimen requests and reports to and from various laboratories. Pull charts for lab reports to be reviewed and signed by physicians
- Cleans and sterilizes equipment. Performs quality control measures and documentation. Prepares and replenishes supplies. Maintains inventory
- Instructs patient regarding preparation for tests. Provides information and pamphlets Requests and assists with formal consent when required
- Receives and organizes the handling of medication samples, checks expiration dates and disposes outdated medications accordingly
- Disposes of contaminated and disposable items
- Working knowledge of computers since medical records will be kept in Electronic Health Records
- Attends required meetings
- Participates in professional development activities
- Maintains strictest confidentiality
- Phone Triage: Answers phones, forward calls, takes messages
- Schedule appointments
- Call results to patient after physician reviews them.
- Screen patient calls for physicians. Take care of emergent calls. Take careful note of others and forwarding information to the physician
- Call in medication prescriptions to patient pharmacy as directed by physician.
- Give limited medical advice over the phone and documenting the call and the advice given
- Performs other duties as assigned
