Compensation for this role:
Base Pay Range: $19.25-$23.10 per hour, depending on experience
Additional Pay Opportunities:
- Night Shift Differential ? $5 per hour shift differential for any applicable night shift hours worked
- Bilingual Pay Differential ? additional $3 per hour pay premium for employees who utilize a qualifying second language in the workplace, applicable to all hours worked
Work Status: Full-time, hourly, non-exempt
Schedule: 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR ?
YWCA Spokane is looking to hire a Night Shelter Advocate. The Night Shelter Advocate will be responsible for providing advocacy-based support for individuals in intimate partner domestic violence relationships staying at our shelters and hotels. This position empowers survivors through self-advocacy; assisting participants with safety planning and providing options and resources for those in crisis.

Direct Services
- Prioritizing answering the YWCA 24-hour help line, providing supportive listening, safety planning, resource management, and client intake services.
- Providing domestic violence education, safety planning, crisis intervention, resource referrals, and advocacy-based support to survivors and their dependents.
- Upholding strict confidentiality and privileged communication requirements.
- Fostering and maintaining a healthy, respectful environment by enforcing shelter standards.
- Assisting with household tasks, including distributing food, clothing, linens, and personal items.
- Providing support to facilitators and volunteers during shelter activities or classes, as needed.
- Ensuring shelter security and contacting emergency personnel when necessary.
- Engaging with survivors by regularly checking in and being present throughout the shelter.
Client Intake and Orientation
- Conducting client screenings and intakes into the safe shelter.
- Completing intake paperwork and ensuring residents understand and agree to shelter standards.
- Offering shelter tours to new residents and addressing any questions.
- Ensuring residents' basic needs are met, including access to medical care, bedding, clothing, hygiene items, and food.
Assessment and Advocacy
- Completing 72-hour assessments and connecting survivors with their assigned case manager.
- Assessing and prioritizing resident needs for ongoing advocacy, support, and safety planning using a diversion-first, progressive engagement model.
Documentation and Compliance
- Maintaining accurate resident files, ensuring documentation complies with YWCA standards and funding agency requirements.
- Assisting the shelter coordinator with timely shelter data entry and reporting.
Housing and Quality Assurance
- Conducting housing assessment referrals through the helpline, utilizing Empower DB.
- Supporting quality assurance efforts and evaluate service delivery standards.
Shelter Maintenance
- Stocking the shelter with necessary supplies such as food, hygiene items, and other essentials.
- Supporting room turnover by bagging client belongings and cleaning bedrooms per the room turnover checklist.
- Completing and signing off on the nightly shelter maintenance checklist.
- Sorting and storing donations as needed.
