About the Position
An OAE Evaluator I performs a variety of activities to establish students' qualification for admissions and/or determine transfer credits and completion of general education requirements. An OAE Evaluator I may also ensure that student fulfills all degree requirements necessary to complete a program as set forth by University standards.
What You’ll Do
1. Review incoming admissions files to make admission decision and determination of transfer credit(s), general education requirements, course waivers, and grade-point averages in accordance with University policies and procedures. Ensure all student academic information is entered, updated, and maintained timely and accurately.
2. Evaluate and process experiential learning submissions, prior learning portfolios, and professional training portfolios. This includes researching the appropriate guides, files, and other related materials to determine the amount of credit awarded for various prior learning course work. This may also include assigning portfolios, or sections of portfolios, to faculty evaluators by area of academic specialization.
3. Interpret and apply all University programs, courses, equivalencies, prerequisites, and general matriculation and degree requirements to successfully determine student graduation eligibility.
4. Guide and counsel the customer service staff and/or campus personnel in responding to student inquiries related to University guidelines, procedures and standards. This also includes responding to inquiries regarding student academic records, as well as the status of submission evaluations in a timely and efficient manner.
5. May evaluate foreign academic credentials and course or program descriptions for applicability to University programs. This includes researching materials on foreign educational systems and analyzing this information, such as foreign credentials, with prescribed departmental guidelines to determine acceptability of records and credits.
6. Review and monitor student academic-related documents to identify the possibility of record falsification, following established departmental guidelines and procedures.
7. Prepare various reports and correspondence as needed or directed. This includes providing individually written letters of evaluation to all students assigned, detailing results of evaluation.
8. Participate in department, organizational task forces, or committees to improve department workflow quality, effectiveness, and efficiency.
9. Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.
