JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safely perform the functions of Operations Coordinator in the Transmission Vegetation Management (VM) group to provide continual focus to the safe, reliable, and compliant execution of Entergy’s Transmission VM program.  This involves the development and management of work projects to control and manage on and off Right of Way vegetation that can interfere with reliable service of the high voltage transmission system as well as the management of vegetation in and around Entergy Substation and fee property locations.  This position involves coordination and oversight of all related work activities that include but is not limited to the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Scheduling, assigning, and monitoring Transmission and Substation VM contract work in accordance with Entergy’s Safety and procedural requirements
  • Promoting and supporting the safety of contract partners by performing and documenting field observations and providing coaching to address any improvement opportunities noted
  • Developing and promoting strong safety leadership with co-workers, assigned contract workforce, and internal and external customers
  • Applying electric utility experience and industry knowledge to ensure expectations are met regarding safe work practices, industry standards, regulations, and procedures (incl. Job Hazard Analysis & Tailboards)
  • Ensuring all work activities follow Entergy’s Safe Work Rules Manual and procedural expectations
  • Managing respective Transmission Vegetation program/area in a manner that promotes full compliance with NERC FAC-003 requirements
  • Applying working knowledge of current IVM programs, techniques, and industry practices (incl. herbicide products & applications)
  • Applying working knowledge of SWPPP and other environmental requirements
  • Working with construction groups to support the estimation, planning, and oversight of new Transmission Line construction as it relates to Vegetation Management
  • Developing, estimating, coordinating, implementing, and providing oversight to PM and CM maintenance plans for assigned work areas
  • Ensuring work and accounting accuracy for contractor billing and tracking of contractor invoices
  • Completing annual work plans and meeting budget targets for assigned work areas, which includes tracking and documenting data for work management program
  • Experience in Contract Management including oversight of multiple contract projects, bidding procedures and analysis of contract proposals
  • Assisting with development of VM Scope of Work and Specifications for various contract requisitions and amendments
  • Monitoring work area for reliability needs and implementing improvement projects as needed
  • Coordinating contract personnel during emergency / storm restoration throughout Entergy Service territory and traveling Off-System during mutual assistance opportunities
  • Providing timely and effective response to all VM landowner complaints in accordance with Customer issue resolution expectations
  • Effectively managing, resolving, and/or mitigating conflict
  • Communicating work plans and reporting project status to internal customers or regulatory groups
  • Participating in internal/external communication and educational programs
  • Contributing to Transmission AM core process improvement opportunities
  • Demonstrating proficiency with PC skills that include Entergy and Microsoft applications
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously with minimal direct supervision
  • Utilizing excellent communication and customer relation skills
  • Ability to fly long hours in helicopter during patrols for routine and storm inspection flights
  • Ability to identify work conditions, problems, or damages during helicopter or ground patrols
  • Ability to work extended hours in challenging terrain and environments while coordinating emergency restoration efforts
  • Participating in group or department teams and related community action programs
  • Developing responses to corporate, governmental, or industry groups with requests for information
  • Understanding that the duties of this position may change over time and include many aspects not listed in this description, as each day presents unique and dynamic challenges that we are expected to manage.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of transmission/distribution vegetation, line, substation, or project experience
  • Preferred:
    • 4-year college degree in Forestry or a Natural Resource Management related field
    • With a related college degree: Minimum of 2 years of electric utility vegetation management experience / electric utility line management or related experience
    • Without a college degree: Minimum of 7 years of electric utility vegetation management / electric utility line management or related experience

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven OSHA/ANSI safe work knowledge
  • Safe driving record
  • Working knowledge of T&D electrical systems, work procedures &/or transmission line maintenance requirements
  • Must be able to work extended hours and perform “Call-Out” duties
  • Must be able to assist in storm and outages restoration in all Entergy work jurisdictions as needed
  • Ability to work extended hours in a helicopter or on ground patrols performing routine and storm inspection activities
  • Necessary Major Life Activities: Seeing, Hearing, and Speaking
  • Preferred: 
    • Certified Arborist through the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA Certified Arborist)
    • Pesticide License with State Plant Board (Right of Way, Agriculture or Forestry category)
    • T or D Line restoration and outage procedure experience
    • Working knowledge of electric utility schematic drawings, prints, and maps (Circuits, One-Lines, GPS, ESRI, Epoch, Maximo, etc.)
    • FEMA Emergency Management Institute – Incident Training (System Outage Response)
    • Working knowledge of ESRI, GIS, or other digital mapping and remote sensing programs/software
