As a busy cultural hub, a team of creative activists are delivery transformative services to build health and wealth for community through the arts. Joe’s Movement Emporium is a catalyst for a local creative economy.

The Operations Manager works with the Leadership Team to provide administrative, facility, and program support to ensure smooth day-to-day operations in a fast-paced, nonprofit arts organization with two locations. This position supports department leaders and staff in achieving their program service goals by maintaining systems, spaces, and supplies. Joe’s Movement Emporium in Mount Rainier and Creative Suitland Arts Center in Suitland are thriving creative hubs that focus on education, job training, and supporting a creative economy. The Operations Manager plays a critical role in helping our multidisciplinary performing arts centers serve their communities and enhance workplace culture.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Facility Support – 50%

  • Manage maintenance contracts and oversee all related work.
  • Serve as the contact for the technical support coordinator, working with IT service providers to ensure efficient operation of the organization’s computers, network, and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve daily facility needs.
  • Supervise custodial staff.
  • Oversee the installation of exhibitions, public art, and other program-related items.
  • Ensure both locations’ grounds are well-maintained and safe.

Program Support – 25%

  • Refine operational systems to assist staff with program service delivery.
  • Organize supplies, materials, and equipment for efficient use and upkeep.
  • Assist with program impact analysis through data collection in collaboration with each department.
  • Serve on occasion as event manager for large audience events and performances.

Administrative – 25%

  • Ensure the organization complies with licenses, permits, and other administrative requirements.
  • Support the Executive Director in tasks related to meetings and other needs as requested.
  • Assist with general office administrative duties as necessary.
  • Coordinate staff training and team-building events.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience in facility care and management.
  • Passion for using technology to enhance the efficiency and impact of a regional nonprofit organization.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator.

  • Ability to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds for short periods of time

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
