National Able Network, an innovative growing nonprofit agency specializing in the provision of innovative employment and training programs, has an opportunity for an Outreach Specialist.


The Outreach Specialist connects underserved and special populations (such as individuals with disabilities, English-language learners, refugees, veterans, at-risk youth, justice involved, and other marginalized groups) with meaningful employment opportunities. Provides support to the goals/mission of the program by conducting outreach to community-based organizations, job seekers and other partner organizations to develop relationships, facilitate service referrals, and increase program enrollments and partnership opportunities. Works with a team to deliver employment services including assessing barriers to employment and employment goals, delivering effective training and support, referring to outside agencies for other services (as appropriate), providing job search assistance and working with local companies to identify employment leads, and supporting employment with retention services to clients/participants. Will collaborate & partner with internal and external positions. Will also conduct research, tracking, monitoring. developing and communicating associated reports and data.

Requirements:


  • Develop and implement targeted outreach strategies to identify and engage special populations within the community.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, educational institutions, employers, and other stakeholders to create a network of support for participants.
  • Organize and participate in job fairs, community events, and other outreach activities to raise awareness of workforce development programs.
  • Provide individualized career coaching to participants, including resume development, job search strategies, interview preparation, and career planning.
  • Assess participants' skills, interests, and barriers to employment to develop personalized employment plans.
  • Assist participants in accessing job training programs, vocational rehabilitation services, and other resources to enhance their employability.
  • Monitor participants' progress toward employment goals and provide ongoing support and encouragement.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager to design and implement workforce development programs tailored to the needs of special populations.
  • Develop and deliver workshops and training sessions on job readiness, soft skills, and other employment-related topics.
  • Track and report on program outcomes, including job placements, retention rates, and participant satisfaction.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with employers willing to hire and support special populations.
  • Advocate for participants by educating employers on the benefits of hiring individuals from special populations and providing support to ensure successful placements.
  • Coordinate job placements, internships, and other employment opportunities for participants.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of participant interactions, program activities, and outcomes.
  • Prepare regular reports on outreach efforts, participant progress, and program impact.
  • Use data to continuously improve outreach strategies and program offerings, and provide program-wide support to ensure participant enrollment requirements are met and maintained.


Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of the barriers to employment faced by special populations and strategies for overcoming them.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with community partners, employers, and participants.
  • Knowledge of local labor market trends, job training programs, and vocational services.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with case management software.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in workforce development, career coaching, or a related field, with a focus on special populations.
  • Must be able to travel within the community and other National Able Network offices when necessary; may require occasional evening or weekend hours to attend community events or accommodate participants' schedules.
