Job Description

Joining a clinic with its own unique identity is like a cross-country car ride with your ears flapping in the breeze. The Veterinary Emergency Center of Canton is looking to add a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team. The schedule for this role will be three 12-hour shifts, 7p-7a, with one weekend shift a week required. Availability for this schedule is required.

Veterinary Technician (overnight, weekend required)

Veterinary Emergency Center of Canton in Canton, CT

$25.00 - 30.00 per hour

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Perform triage evaluation of the condition of a variety of patients
  • Create and maintain treatment sheets
  • Calculate and administer scheduled medications, continuous infusions, and blood products
  • Place and maintain catheters (central and peripheral venous, and urinary)
  • Record all treatments and patient status observations
  • Charge for all treatments and procedures
  • Alert the DVM with any changes in a patient’s status
  • Perform anesthesia induction, maintenance, and recovery
  • Perform radiographs and laboratory analyses
  • Interact with clients, provide patient updates, financial updates, and manage patient visits
  • Able to comfort, handle and restrain large and small animals

REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) or License (LVT) in the state of Connecticut (or eligible for transfer) a bonus for this role, but experienced unlicensed technicians or assistants will be considered
  • Must have a positive attitude and be a team player
