Job Description Summary

  • In this position you will direct and coordinate all launch activities in Paint and will report to the Body Systems Area Manager.
  • Responsible to manage the Paint Shop Launch Team in the implementation and execution of the established business process for Bowling Green’s Paint operations and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. Work is of a technical nature and requires independent judgment.
  • This position also is responsible to manage new color introductions including the completion of all color workability and harmony requirements.
    • Work is of a difficult and involved nature where a high level of independent judgment and discretion are exercised. You will be expected to drive technical innovations that improve product quality and our productivity.

Summary of Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to program paint shop robots to process future model vehicles. This includes the development of a robust path work that supports our World Class Quality Requirements.
  • In this role you are also responsible for paint quality of preproduction vehicles and to ensure that the paint appearance matches that of the current Corvette models being produced.
  • Ensures that the Paint Shop Manufacturing Validation Plan supports the plant’s acceleration schedule.
  • Work together with the Corvette Program Team, the in plant Launch Team, Body Shop, and General Assembly to resolve any paint related build issues in order to optimize overall plant operations.
  • Train and develop the paint team on the new builds and processes.
  • Maintain Master Dot tracking of launch activities with appropriate countermeasures to ensure paint is on track to plan.
  • Develop and test advanced or new processes that support future model introductions or improve quality and productivity.
  • Provide technical direction and oversight to outside vendors working on projects for the paint shop.
  • Ensure all new processes met all ergonomics and safety guidelines.
  • Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in areas of paint.
  • Actively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities.

Additional Job Description:

  • Paint application and production experience is required for this position.
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures, manufacturing processes and management systems is a must.
  • Highly developed oral and written communications skills are needed.
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult.
  • Very high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees and elicit work output as a team.
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required.
  • Knowledge of computer software.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferred in Engineering.
