JOB TITLE: Bus Driver
REPORTS TO: Community Manager
JOB TYPE: Part- Time
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Bus Driver performs responsible semi-skilled work in the operation of a van transporting people and meals; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. Works part-time, 2-3 days a week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but are not limited to:
- Operates passenger van, wheelchair van or car and picks up elderly and disabled persons for congregate meals, medical appointments, business, shopping or recreational destinations, and returns them to their homes.
- Assists participants in and out of vehicles
- Maintains vehicle logs and trip records.
- Ensures vans, cars and coolers are properly cleaned, fueled and maintained
- Ensures customer safety
- Receives and completes requests for transportation
- Enforces sanitation and health regulations
- Receives and forwards complaints to appropriate individuals
- Reports unusual events, emergencies, customer incidents and accidents and handles in accordance with established Agency policy and procedures
- Performs other duties as required
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ABILIITES
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. on a repetitive and frequent basis and up to 50 lbs. occasionally
- Requires frequent reaching, balancing, and/or pushing to assist persons in and out of agency vehicles
- Requires agility to repetitively climb in and out of agency vehicles on a frequent basis
- Requires being able to perform work indoors and outdoors as work is subject to weather conditions
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- NO CDL required but good driving record and valid VA Driver’s License is a must!
- General knowledge of the principles and practices of operating and servicing vans
- Versed in traffic laws and regulations governing van operation
- Skill and care in the operation of the equipment; able to comprehend and follow oral and written direction
