IMS seeks a part-time 1st - 6th grade music teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. The hours are Mondays from 10:00AM to 2:45PM, teaching four sections of music per week. There is some flexibility in the schedule. Each class is a multi-age group of either 1st - 3rd grade or 4th - 6th grade. IMS is also open to offering after school clubs or music groups if a candidate is interested.

Job Requirements & Duties

• Establishment and delivery of a global and culturally inclusive music scope and sequence that includes music appreciation, music theory, voice/singing, and learning to play basic introductory instruments.
• Teaching four 45-minute mixed-age elementary classes once a week.
• Creating and providing lesson plans to the administration.
• Making recommendations for resources and materials needed to support the classes.
• Strong fundamentals in teaching the standards and skills required.
• Strong, positive classroom management
• An understanding of how to work with students who have special needs.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in music education, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of classroom experience
• At least 5 years experience working with children in this age group
• Montessori experience or understanding preferred
