Job Summary


The Part-Time IT Support Technician works as a member of the IU Health Center IT Services team providing technical user support for all user-facing IT service requests.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Receives, troubleshoots, resolves/escalates all IT Support requests, both phone and ticket-based, in the Service Now ticketing system.
  • Provides technical service and support of Windows 10 and 11 based client systems, custom and third-party applications to include printers within the IU Health Center's (215) user, multilocation (IUB campus) environment.
  • Receives training from IT Services Manager, including cross training with other departments within the Office of Student Life, as well as participating in training for third party software including electronic health records, laboratory, pharmacy, X-ray imaging, hotel management and X-ray PACS system software.
  • Proofreads, updates, maintains all end-user support procedures in the IT wiki.
  • Updates IT Inventory database.
  • Participates in perpetual hardware lifecycle replacement program.
  • Keeps the server room and IT office organized and hardware labeled.
  • Replaces and replenishes printer toner and responds to general printer maintenance work.
  • Endpoint decommissioning and hard drive wiping.
  • Assists with IU Surplus IT hardware disposal process.
  • Reimages and deploys all HC end user computing equipment using SCCM.

Qualifications


EDUCATION

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)

Preferred

  • Associate's degree in an accredited computer information systems program

WORK EXPERIENCE

Preferred

  • Prior technical help desk experience
  • Prior experience in a customer service-oriented position
  • Experience troubleshooting with Windows 10, Microsoft Office Suite/365 applications including Microsoft Outlook

SKILLS

Required

  • Strong proficiency with Windows 10, Microsoft Office Suite/365 applications including Microsoft Outlook
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Courteous customer service skills
  • The ability to work in a team environment as well as independently to research and find solutions
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Desire to learn new skills to actively contribute to the IT team's collective knowledgebase
  • Ability to be a proactive team member

Working Conditions / Demands


This role requires the ability to lift up to 35 pounds. The position involves moving around campus with the ability to travel to remote campus office locations up to 1 mile away. This position requires the ability to work on multiple priorities during a shift, prioritize many activities, communicate with a wide range of constituents, and write effectively and professionally. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
