- Participates in the maintenance of aquatic facilities, pools, parks, fields, grounds, etc.
- Operates a variety of grounds maintenance equipment; mows grass, cuts weeds, repairs landscaping, and collects litter, leaves, and debris; maintains assigned equipment.
- Prepares courts, pools, fields and other facilities for lessons, meets, practices, games, matches, and tournaments.
- Troubleshoots and repairs problems with aquatic and non-aquatic computerized and mechanical equipment.
- Monitors water chemistry and adjusts as needed; ensures the proper functionality of all equipment.
- Assists with the preparations for a variety of programs, tournaments, programs, and special events. Assists with swim meets and other events and programs.
- Performs custodial maintenance duties; cleans and restocks restrooms; sweeps, mops, polishes, and waxes floors; empties trash receptacles; maintains inventory of janitorial supplies.
- Supervises facilities usage; enforces policies and procedures; resolves problems.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Assistant Director (Aquatics), Aquatics Manager, and/or Aquatics Supervisor assign work in terms of detailed and specific instructions. The supervisor spot-checks work in progress and upon completion for accuracy, adequacy, and adherence to instructions and established guidelines.
GUIDELINES
Guidelines include ADA regulations, the Model Aquatic Health Code, Health Department regulations, OSHA regulations, American Red Cross guidelines, and city and department policies and procedures. These are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
- The work consists of related maintenance duties. Inclement weather contributes to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to participate in city aquatic and non-aquatic facilities and programs and the maintenance of assigned facilities. Successful performance in this position contributes to the provision of safe aquatic and non-aquatic facilities and programs to the public.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, or walking. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects up to fifty (50) pounds, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.
- The work is typically performed in aquatic and non-aquatic facilities to include the Ice & Lights Ice Rink, specifically outdoors, occasionally in hot, cold, or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to machinery with moving parts and irritating chemicals. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, respirators, face shields, boots, goggles, gloves, etc. In addition, those assigned to work on the ice rink as a skate guard will be exposed to slippery surfaces.
