Status: Full Time 80 Hours

Shift: Nights (11:30pm-8:00am)

General Summary:

Summary:

Provides or assists with the transportation of patients between their assigned room and various hospital departments or units

Responsibilities:

1. Prior to transport, identifies patient using hospital identification bracelet and confirms patient destination and scheduled appointment with patient unit.
2. Provides efficient transportation of the patient including (A) Assists with transfer to and from bed, wheelchair, stretcher-chair, or stretcher; and with positioning, (B) Assists patient in ambulation to and from wheelchair; and with positioning, (C) Transports patient to requested destination without assistance, (D) Uses appropriate equipment to transfer and transport, (E) Obtains Ticket to Ride and confirms patient condition with clinical staff prior to departure (O2, IV)
3. Ensures appropriate distribution of patient transportation equipment. Maintains allotted equipment levels per unit. Recognizes equipment in need of repair, appropriately labels and delivers to plant operations. Retrieves and delivers patient equipment (telemetry monitor pack, IV pumps).
4. Observes patients’ condition for signs, symptoms and unusual occurrences. Able to recognize an emergency situation.
5. Ensures patient safety by observing patient frequently and taking necessary safety precautions including: (A) secures patient in w/c, stretcher-chair, stretcher, or bed (B) identifies appropriate attachment of medical equipment to w/c, stretcher-chair, stretcher, or bed
6. Reports to Dispatcher as needed and utilizes EPIC Transport System for all transports.
7. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED
  
• Credential(s): Basic Life Support -Within 90 days, if not already obtained.

• Required: Customer service experience
  

Preferred Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

• Education: Certificate Program -Certified Nursing Assistant
• Preferred: Previous experience in acute care facility
