We are seeking a Personnel Security Assistant on site at Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in Washington, DC.
Work arrangement: Hybrid - This position has weekly in-office requirements
Clearance: Active Top Secret or ability to obtain a TS clearance
Responsibilities: - Serves as a liaison between ATF and a multitude of federal and state agencies
- Initiates, reviews, and audits e-QIP applications
- Troubleshoots any issues Subject encounters with the e-QIP system
- Conducts open-source research when reviewing e-QIPs
- Conduct investigative checks:
- Obtains credit checks
- Conducts Selective Service checks
- Conducts Federal Licensing System checks
- Conducts state police checks
- Conducts School Accreditation checks
- Conducts Criminal activity National Criminal Information Center (NCIC) and NLETs checks through Justice Web Interface (JWIN) to NCIC
- Conducts Foreign travel through TECS checks
- Conducts PIV checks
- Reviews request packages, security packages, and waiver packages
- Review PSRs for BIs and security clearances
- Manages and tracks cases by utilizing various internal and Departmental databases
- Queries the PIPS for previous investigations and requests files from other agencies
- Completes initial risk assessments for Subjects that violate ATF agency specific qualifications
- Prepares polygraph package
- Accommodates and takes fingerprints for the FBI fingerprint checks as part of the pre-employment BI process
- Enters and tracks obligations for field investigator assignments
- Requests other investigative service provider files
- Requests IA checks
- Conducts the www.TheWorkNumber.com requests
- Provides administrative case support for several Sis
- Answers phones; files paperwork; conducts file audits
- Prepares and reviews correspondence
- Sends reminder emails to Subjects and their Sponsors
- Conducts weekly and bi-weekly counts
- Prepares files for the FRC shipment
- Reviews Position Designation Tools and the type of investigation to be conducted
- Requests FBI Name Checks and distributes results
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements: - Excellent customer/client handling skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Working knowledge of MS Office – Word, Excel and PPT; database experience
- Experience working with e-Qip and JPAS preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills; written and oral communications skills
- Excellent time management – ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
- US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance
- This position has weekly in-office requirements
Education/Experience: - High School Diploma or GED, Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a general office setting
