Job Description

The Role

Our Production Team Members contribute to assembling vehicles, using tools, and solving problems, playing a key role in the success of our company. In this role, you will be involved in building both internal combustion engines (ICE) and electric vehicles. Previous manufacturing or related experience is preferred, but not required.

This role involves adapting to new tasks in a dynamic environment. Overtime may be required depending on production needs. Successful candidates will thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and can quickly adapt to changes in job duties as needed to meet business and staffing demands, and complete tasks within designated timeframes to meet production standards.

As part of the employment process, candidates will be required to watch a video and complete a questionnaire.

What You Will Do (Responsibilities)

Must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the essential knowledge, skill, ability and/or physical demands required. Additional or different requirements may exist in this role.

  • Contribute to a culture of safety by working collaboratively with your team to ensure safe practices are always followed.
  • Assemble vehicle components on the production line, ensuring precision and adherence to quality standards.
  • Install electrical systems and components in electric vehicles, following standardized work elements and diagrams.
  • Perform quality checks at various stages of the assembly process to ensure all components meet required specifications.
  • Operate various tools and machinery, including torque wrenches, pneumatic tools, and automated assembly equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve assembly issues.
  • Work closely with team members and supervisors to identify and implement solutions, taking instruction and guidance from leaders and resolving and avoiding interpersonal conflicts.
  • Daily usage of tools and machinery, including operating mobile equipment to move materials within the assembly plant.
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts / hours, including weekends and overtime as required to meet business needs.
  • Regularly learn new tasks and processes and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and product quality.
  • Arrive on time and ready to work for all scheduled shifts and behave in a respectful and professional manner.

Safety Protocols Required

  • We provide comprehensive safety training and expect strict adherence to all safety protocols to ensure a safe workplace for all.
  • Participate in regular safety training sessions and drills.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as closed-toe shoes, gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or potential hazards to supervisors immediately.
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures to ensure machinery is properly shut down before maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Be aware of and follow emergency procedures, including evacuation routes and assembly points.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working condition and report any defects or malfunctions.
  • Participate in safety audits and inspections to identify and mitigate risks.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, often for an entire shift.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 50 lbs. depending on department needs.
  • Frequent and repetitive bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, and reaching to perform various assembly tasks.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle, control, grip/grasp, or feel objects, tools, or controls (including pinching/handling small parts).
  • Ability to respond swiftly to safety instructions, alarms, and signals.
  • Navigate a busy and dynamic environment safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to visually inspect components for quality and to read detailed instructions and diagrams.
  • Promptly detect and respond to safety instructions, alarms, and signals.
  • Wear personal protective equipment, for example: safety glasses, gloves, hats, vests, ear plugs, and protective footwear.
  • Occasionally sit during certain tasks.
  • Drive mobile equipment (Forklift or Tugger) once trained.
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment with varying temperatures and conditions within the manufacturing facility.

Minimum Requirements

  • 18+ years old.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Willing and able to work any shift assigned, including overtime (as needed)
  • Ability to listen to, read, understand, and follow detailed work and safety instructions in English.
  • Able to initiate background check within 7 days and a drug screen within 5 days after receiving a conditional offer of employment, and satisfactorily this pre-employment screening in a timely manner.

  • If you are selected for this position, you will be required to pay monthly fees or dues to the UAW. Union dues are $60 dollars per month and are automatically deducted from the paychecks of UAW members.
  • If you are selected for this position, the position will be covered under the terms of the UAW-GM labor agreement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of manufacturing experience, preferably in the automotive industry, a warehouse setting, or other similar environment.
