Big Sandy Lithium Project Manager

Summary of Position:

The Big Sandy Lithium Project Manager is responsible for coordinating diverse teams of specialists, to design, permit, and prepare to build a new mine on public lands. The project manager will facilitate clear and consistent communication between all parties, be responsible for maintaining the project schedule, scope, budget, and promote project success. The project manager will manage ever-increasing project complexity and will influence the mine development team at all levels.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a primary point of contact for the project with all parties: leadership, specialists, consultants, stakeholders
  • Facilitates excellent communication between all parties to ensure project synergy and forward momentum
  • Builds a working knowledge of all applicable topics: political engagement, environmental permitting, tribal consultation, mining, and engineering, to help guide the parties
  • Builds the project team and delegates tasks
  • Makes effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project
  • Performs quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected
  • Identifies challenges and solves problems
  • Drives the overall project schedule. Establishes sub-project budgets and schedules, provides regular forecast updates, and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Creates long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines.
  • Accountable for preliminary evaluation of project risks (technical and non-technical) and works with all parties to create strategies to manage risks
  • Ensure service contracts (engineering, construction, environmental, etc.) are properly managed and service providers fulfill their scope of work and comply with contractual requirements
  • Manage the change process for scope, schedule, and budget
  • Approve change requests from consultants, contractors, and vendors.
  • Provide summary reporting and metrics on project progress, schedule, and cost control activities.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and management to all members of the project team, ensuring everyone is working together and meeting project objectives.

    Necessary Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience with a proven history of managing large development projects on lands and/or managing departments within active mining projects.
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an applicable field such as engineering, environmental, natural resources, or business.
  • Knowledge managing all aspects of the project life cycle and familiarity with the principles of project management for scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources, and stakeholders is required.
  • Experience in permitting large natural resource projects and interacing with both state and federal regulatory agencies
  • Experience in managing multiple projects in parallel with interaction with multiple project teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of communication, project management and scheduling skills.

  • Must be willing to travel the project location in Arizona and other locations, as needed.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to frequently sit with frequent forward bending and occasional rotation. The employee must rarely lift, carry and/or move up to 13 pounds and rarely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee is required to rarely push or pull up to 45 pounds horizontally. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required occasionally to walk; climb stairs; and stand with rare rotation. Rarely the employee is required to squat repetitively or reach up to 74”. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Working Environment: Works in office environment and site environment. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
