The Company: Utah Pacific Bridge & Steel LLC, headquartered in Lindon, UT, is the leading provider of heavy steel components used in bridge construction, replacement, and repair in the Western United States.

Position: Project Manager

Location : Lindon, Utah

Overview: Provide hands-on management, oversite, and customer correspondence for each assigned project, from project award through erection.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field. Three-plus years of experience required in steel fabrication and/or bridge, highway, or steel construction. Possess a strong knowledge of blueprint reading and have proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Have experience in nesting pieces into large plate sizes for structural mill orders. Have CAD experience. Possess effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to multi-task.

Role & Responsibilities: To direct and/or perform all aspects of Production Planning, Purchasing, Shop Detail Drawing Management and certain aspects of Quality Control for each assigned project.

Brief Description of Duties:

(1) Make an in-depth study of the design drawings, specifications, fracture critical members, paint and special quality requirements of each assigned project prior to bidding and at the beginning of that project.

(2) Perform a material takeoff, obtain materials and subcontractor pricing for upcoming bids.

(3) Prepare a preliminary estimate on upcoming bids.

(4) Nest small parts into mill order quantities. Prepare steel mill and supplier purchase orders, obtain pricing, purchase and expedite material delivery.

(5) Prepare cut lists and CNC files from DXF data files for shop operations.

(6) Obtain pricing & sublet and coordinate shop drawing production through outside detailers.

(3) Keep a permanent job file on each project.

(4) Coordinate the flow of information between the appropriate departments.

(5) Report project status, problem areas, and solution options at weekly Production/Quality Management meetings.

(6) Prepare and submit the following for customer or owner approval: (a) Welding Procedures, (b) Quality Control Procedures, (c) Special Fabrication Procedures, i.e., heat curving, heat straightening, paint and sublet agencies, NDT procedures, etc., (d) Procedures for the correction of nonconforming work as rejected by outside inspectors and/or our own quality control inspector, (e) Insure corrective action on non-conforming material.

(7) Assist QC department as required.

(8) Prepare complete cost estimates and pricing for project change orders.

(9) Provide for and schedule inbound and outbound freight through common carriers and/or our sister company – Mountain Pacific Transport.

(10) Coordinate project erection operations with customer and sublet erector.

(11) Report directly to the Chief Executive Officer

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
