Job Description

Position Title: Public Health Analyst, Part-Time
Location: Remote
Department: National Center for Environmental Health

Summary
The Veritas Management Group is seeking a highly skilled Public Health Analyst to support the planning, implementing, and evaluating of public health programs and initiatives for the CDC’s National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH). The National Center for Environmental Health plans, directs, and coordinates programs to protect the American people from environmental hazards.

The Public Health Analyst will preferably have prior work experience and an understanding of analyzing health data, conducting research, and providing recommendations to improve public health outcomes, specifically in the evaluation of asthma interventions under the EXHALE strategies framework. This project will involve a comprehensive literature review, developing cost-effectiveness (CE) and return-on-investment (ROI) models, with a sensitivity analysis to evaluate the economic impact of potential changes in asthma disease states.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Experience developing independent annotated reviews and summaries of technical and scientific literature.
  • Expertise in evaluating, synthesizing, and translating scientific data and literature for lay audiences.
  • Understanding of applied program evaluation principles in public health.
  • Understanding how to apply social determinants of health in research design is a plus.
  • Skilled in using evaluation findings to refine public health programs, inform evidence-based practice, and improve service delivery, with a focus on continuous quality improvement.
  • Experience with quantitative data cleaning, management, and analysis.
  • Use analytical methods and techniques to gather, analyze, and evaluate qualitative and quantitative data/information required by program; propose solutions to problems relating to improvement of management effectiveness, organizational efficiency, work methods, and procedural effectiveness.
  • Gather and analyze data using Excel, and other Microsoft Office products, to create and communicate metrics for reporting Assistance or Acquisitions team lead and other internal and external points of contact.

Education and/or Experience

  • Master’s degree in a field related to the public health, epidemiological, allied health sciences, or social sciences.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the theories, frameworks, principles, and concepts for strategic planning and policy development.
  • Subject matter expertise in asthma or health equity is a plus.

Skills and Knowledge

  • At least five years of documented mid-to-senior level public health experience in public health practice.
  • At least five years in designing, implementing and evaluating public health programs to address health issues and improve health outcomes.
  • At least five years of experience in Technical Expertise, strategic planning, and Policy Development.
  • At least five years of experience working with federal or related public health entities.
