Job Title: Public Safety Officer

Reports to: Operations Director

Salary Range: Starting at $20.80 per hour

We are seeking a public safety officer to add to our growing company. Pay will be based on experience.

Security International Group (SIG), a protection and security company, is looking for dedicated and professional armed public safety officers to join our team. The primary role of the Public Safety Officer is to ensure the safety and security of our clients' premises and assets. This position requires attentiveness, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment. Previous security experience is preferred but not required for this position. We will train the right candidate with the right attitude and ambition to start or further their career in the security industry. Qualified candidates will need a valid driver’s license, high school diploma or equivalent degree, and the ability to work a flexible schedule. We are looking for someone who works hard, communicates clearly and is interested in a real career with long-term potential, not just a job.

Job Duties:

• Respond to unusual or emergency situations at site using the appropriate escalation of force level up to and including armed response by following established protocol.

• Maintain the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices and weapons.

• Oversee/control access to facilities through the admittance process; precludes unauthorized access to facilities and other restricted areas and deter theft or intentional destruction of physical assets.

• Observes and reports activities and incidents, providing for the security and safety of client property, clients and staff.

• Make periodic tours to check for irregularities and to inspect protection devices and fire control equipment.

• Preserve order and act to enforce rules and directives for the site pertaining to staff, clients, visitors and premises.

• Monitor entrances and exits; act to prevent unapproved or unlawful entry; control entrances, the movement of people and vehicles and parking.

• Patrol assigned site on foot or in vehicle, check for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors and security violations.

• Respond to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, hazardous materials, inclement weather and other incidents.

Qualifications:

· Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

• Must be able to train and meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing and permit requirements for armed Public Safety Officer and specific protective device and weapons qualification.

• Must be able to pass a background check.

• Must have a car, a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and adequate auto insurance.

• Aptitude and personal commitment for public safety work; ability to think clearly and act effectively in emergency situations, making sound and logical decisions quickly; good prioritizing and problem-solving abilities; ability to remember details of incident; names and faces; physical ability and good cognitive skills required for successful performance of essential functions. Good grammar, writing and composition skills. Legible handwriting; good radio manners and voice.

Physical Requirements, Visual Acuity, and Work Conditions:

Physical Requirements: The Public Safety Officers are expected to stand, sit, and walk for periods of times. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Visual Acuity: The Public Safety Officer is required to have close visual acuity and attention to detail to perform an activity such as: Observing events and including preparing or transcribing reports.

Working Conditions: Public Safety Officers are not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. However, as part of their assignment officers may be inside or outside buildings and/or patrol vehicles and may be exposed to various weather conditions.
