Job Description

Background: Libertas is a public charter school serving the Frayser neighborhood in Memphis. Our mission is to be a school for human flourishing: cultivating minds, hands, and hearts for lives of wonder, work, and love. We offer a rich, rigorous, and personalized liberal arts education through the method of Dr. Maria Montessori, with an attachment village of wraparound family supports. We currently serve birth through 6th grade; operate a nationally-accredited, state-licensed teacher training program; and are preparing to open a middle school campus. Learn more on our website.

Role information

  • Key function: Equip our dynamic school with the materials and services needed by conducting purchasing and accounts payable functions and providing courteous service
  • Start date: flexible in fall 2024.
  • Schedule: Full- (40 hours) OR Part-time (25-30 hours), year-round (~46 weeks); full time schedule is 7:30 am-4 pm (4:30 Wednesday), part-time negotiable. Periodic events outside normal schedule (in which case flex time available).
  • Compensation: $34,000 to $42,000 per year full time ($18 - 23 per hour part time), depending on qualifications and experience. Full time employees eligible for health insurance covered at 70%, plus retirement contributions, two weeks each paid sick and vacation time.
  • Reports to: Finance Director
  • Other key relationships: Employee Benefits Manager, Operations Manager, Family Engagement team, Instructional team

Measures of success: stakeholder satisfaction, on-time completion of tasks and response to staff requests, bills paid on time and on budget, compliance with all applicable rules and policies, including documentation, Satisfactory performance evaluations

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with operations team to research vendors and purchase materials and supplies
  • Receive items, ensure they match what was purchased, distribute materials to staff
  • Monitor inventory of supplies and initiate orders
  • Respond to related employee help desk requests
  • Receive and process invoices and ensure documentation (e.g. W-9, backup)
  • Code transactions in payable system, ensure approval, and process payment
  • With family engagement team, collect and track payments for extended day school programs, uniforms, etc
  • Other duties as assigned, such as assisting with bank transactions, etc
