Job Description

JOB PURPOSE: Supports the hospital QI program by assisting the Director of Risk Management and Quality Improvement in completing all regulatory related duties including Joint Commission ICM reviews, corporate quality initiatives, and LCD audits on all Medicare patients.

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services Field is required.

RN or licensed clinician preferred.

Experience: Three to Five years (3-5) experience in Clinical Risk Managament or Quality Improvement related field.

Hospital experience preferred.

Technical Skills: Proficiency with data processing and spreadsheet programs (i.e. Microsoft Office Excel), filing systems and other office-related functions.

Ability to navigate through other information/ data collection systems.

Knowledgeable with various office machines, including but not limited to copiers, printers, and fax machines.

Ability to communicate effectively through spoken word and in writing.

Ability to present information in a variety of ways to a diverse work population.

Age and Disability: Must possess knowledge and skills necessary to interact appropriately with staff members of all ages and backgrounds, as well as interact with supervisory and department managers in a professional manner.

Other: Adherence to confidentiality guidelines is required.

Demonstrates diplomacy and flexibility.

The Risk Management Assistant must possess good communication and organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Contacts: Reports to the Director of Risk Management and Quality Improvement with guidance from Clinical Outpatient Director(s).

Interacts with staff, department managers and supervisors, all internal departments, outside vendors, and regulatory agencies as needed.

Environmental Demands: Labile to fast pace, frequently walks throughout the hospital.

Attends meetings as required.

May work in noisy or congested areas.

May be exposed to violent patients or bodily fluids.

Essential Physical/Mental Demands: Ability to prioritize workload during changes in pace and multiple stresses.

Physical ability to move from unit to unit and to respond to risk management needs as they arise.

Manual Dexterity Required: Ability to write legibly in all communications.

Requires a high degree of proficiency and accuracy in data entry (50 - 70+ words per minutes).
