This position is responsible for a portfolio of Multifamily and/or commercial sites full general ledger accounting, financial reporting (internal and external), bank account reconciliations, monthly and year end preparation/analysis of financial statements, production of audit work papers, real estate and personal property filings, and special projects related to the assigned portfolio. Assistance with cash management, annual budget preparation and cash flow projection/analysis, as required. Duties also include interaction with external accountants in connection with independent audits and tax return preparation, third party owners and lender representatives.
The right candidate must possess strong property accounting, organizational and communication skills and be results-oriented, self-starter, team player with a positive can-do attitude and with the ability to work independently.
Must be detail oriented, able to multi-task, able to identify issues, have the self-confidence to raise issues and the communication skills to concisely convey issues. Must be able to problem solve and implement solutions. Strong accounting process skills are required.
BS in Accounting is required. Experience with real estate accounting software systems is required as well as experience with MS Excel spreadsheets and Word. Real estate industry accounting experience, familiarity with HUD/CHFA/other regulatory agencies and Yardi software experience are preferred. Public accounting, Commercial real estate and accounts payable experience is a plus.
