Location: Sioux Falls, SD

The Regional Director of Operations will be responsible for upholding KAJ Hospitality’s Core Values and leading by example!

This position functions as the strategic business leader of Hotel Operations. This position will be based out of Sioux Falls and also oversee the Gillette, WY market. They will work with direct reports (General Managers) in their designated area to develop and implement departmental strategies and ensure implementation of the brand service strategy and brand initiatives. This position ensures Hotel Operations meet brand standards, target guests needs, foster the KAJ Family Culture, and focuses on growing revenues and maximizing the financial performance of our locations.

  • The Regional Director of Operations will be the main point of contact for their designated properties on hotel operations. To be successful in this communication, you must first “check-in” to the moment and make the effort to understand the General Manager’s perspective and the resulting emotions they are experiencing.
  • This position serves as the Property Performance Mentor for the General Managers and will work directly with the General Managers to achieve hotel goals.
  • Every day this position is responsible to Lead, Manage, and hold our hotels Accountable, we call this LMA!

  • In order to take care of our people, we need to make time for our people! In order to achieve this goal, this position will need to be on property and make connections with our KAJ family! Our expectation is that hotels within city they live will be visited weekly, and markets outside the city they reside will be visited twice per quarter.
  • If we take care of our KAJ Family, our KAJ Family will take care of our guests. The Regional Director of Operations will be accountable for Guest Satisfaction Scores in hotels within their market, including staff training, weekly Revinate Reports, and staff motivation to go the extra mile for every one of our guests!

  • This position requires the ability to include and coordinate across all corporate functions including Sales, Revenue Management, Accounting, and Human Resources.
  • Training our hotels on inclusive-communication is key! This position will be the trailblazer on leading quarterly “Daily Huddle” topics for all our properties to use at their hotels.

  • Running successful hotels means understanding the importance of financial wellness. This position will be responsible for motivating and guiding our General Managers to hit their financial goals! This includes assisting in the Annual Budget Process and assisting with expense controls, with a big emphasis on labor efficiency, to hit budgeted targets.
  • They will work one on one with the management team to develop an operational strategy that is aligned with the brand's business strategy and leads its execution

KAJ Hospitality runs hotels with the most distinguished hotel brands in the industry including Hilton, Marriott, and IHG, which also means keeping up with all the Brand Roll-Outs and Quality Assurance Inspections can be a challenge! This position will assist the General Managers in overcoming the obstacles of all brand-specific initiatives.
  • Regional Director of Operations will face many unique challenges every day, they must be able to adapt and accommodate on the fly.
