POSITION SUMMARY:


The primary responsibilities of the Sales Associate position are to maintain outstanding customer service, generate sales, merchandise product, support the store management team, customer service focused, positive attitude, and must work weekends and holiday.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain awareness of all promotions
  • Execute the daily operational, day to day goals, and priorities assigned by store management
  • Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards
  • Participate in the processing of new shipments and help the team to keep the receiving and back stock area clean and organized
  • Responsive of safety issues
  • Aid customers in locating merchandise in store, as well as, processing special orders
  • Answer customers’ questions and provide information on policies and procedures
  • Greet customers and ascertain what each customer wants or needs
  • Open and close cash registers, performing tasks such as counting money, separating charge slips, coupons, and vouchers, balancing cash drawers, and making deposits
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices
  • Compute sales prices, total purchases, and receive and process cash or credit payment
  • Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts, and know how to prevent or handle these situations
  • Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires
  • Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise
  • Describe merchandise and explain use, operation, and care of merchandise to customers
  • Ticket, arrange, and display merchandise to promote sales
  • Prepare sales slips or sales contracts
  • Clean shelves, counters, and tables
  • Exchange merchandise for customers and accept returns
  • Bag or package purchases, and wrap gifts
  • Must obtain a Food Handlers license to assist in café when needed
Requirements:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business
  • Have knowledge of store products along with the willingness to learn
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations
  • Be a fast learner, cheerful, and possess a positive attitude
  • Previous experience in a retail environment
  • Knowledge of retail computer systems, a plus
  • A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction
  • A strong team player yet still able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task

PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include evenings and/or weekends and holidays.
  • Successful completion of all pre-employment screening.
  • No history of allergy-related to animals or plants, which might interfere with ability to work.
  • Employee must be able to occasionally lift, move, carry, push, or pull up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, or crawl.
  • Required to frequently talk and hear.
  • No impairment of sight, smell, hearing, touch, balance, and agility of movement which might interfere with ability to work.
  • Must be able to take directional cues directly or indirectly.
  • Ability to work in an environment that may be loud at times.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, including occasional extreme hot or cold, and wet and/or humid conditions.
