We are looking for a high energy, enthusiastic, results driven retail store manager to be responsible for the overall campus store management at our Baton Rouge Community College Bookstore location. The successful candidate will be able to enhance customer satisfaction, meet sales and profitability goals and manage staff effectively and be great building relationships.
Candidates will have the most success if they have a background in Campus store management or retail management.
Position Summary:
The store manager plans, organizes and manages all aspects of the bookstore operations. The store manager is responsible for meeting or exceeding budgeted sales and expense goals without jeopardizing Company assets or compromising customer service. The store manager is responsible for acquiring and maintaining appropriate inventory levels in textbooks, trade and general merchandise. The store manager directly reports to the Regional Manager.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Inventory:
- Collect, enter and analyze textbook adoptions for order placement and maintain regular communication with campus stakeholders regarding status
- Manage inventory for the department, including receiving, tagging, set-up and the return of unsold inventory to the vendors.
- Compile and maintain histories for inventory management
- Procure and merchandise inventory appropriate to budgetary needs
Loss Prevention:
- Ensure merchandise is received in a timely manner, inspected for loss or damage and properly ticketed or tagged
- Adhere to Company standards for cash handling and reporting on a daily basis
- Exercise due diligence and sound judgement in protecting Company assets
Accounting/Sales Reporting:
- Follow and execute all Company deadlines for daily, weekly and monthly sales reporting-including daily bank deposits
- Organize and bill accounts receivables promptly and accurately
- Ensure all invoices are matched and paid within 30 days of date of invoice
- File and follow-up regularly on chargebacks to ensure credit received within 90 days
- Ensure paperwork is filed and organized according to Company standards to allow proper audit and follow-up
Customer Relations:
- Develop and maintain a good working relationship with the faculty to obtain key information in the text area.
- Schedule regular appointments and meet with the appropriate administrative personnel to build rapport, discuss situations and avoid potential problems.
- Ensure communications with internal and external customers are both accurate and timely
- Ensure training and execution of superior customer service standards
Personnel:
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule and maintain staff at appropriate levels according to Company guidelines and budgets. Organizational structure and staffing plans vary based on business needs.
Other Duties As Assigned:
- Occasionally, there may be tasks or responsibilities assigned that are outside the scope of normal responsibilities and duties. It is the store manager’s responsibility to either oversee or execute other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements:
- Two (2) years of college or its equivalent.
Preferred Experience:
- Three (3) to five (5) years experience in a college bookstore or in a retail operation.
- Two (2) years: supervisory capacity
Personal Characteristics:
- Excellent team building skills-Focus and attention to leading team critical.
- Ability and willingness to maintain professional image that represents yourself and the Company
- Understanding of basic accounting
- Strong organizational skills with focus and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
