Job Description
Overview:
The Resident Safety Assistant PIPP will focus on fall prevention for residents under the PIPP Fall Prevention Program. They will engage and assist residents ensuring individualized programming is carried out to prevent falls with injury, and will serve as a liaison between staff members helping manage resident’s fall prevention plans of care.
Responsibilities: - Provide individualized plan of care to enhance resident safety and meet individual’s needs (physical, cultural, and psychosocial).
- Engage residents, especially those at higher risk for falls in the evening with the goal to decrease falls and falls with injury.
- Assist with resident group activities in the evening.
- Assist at mealtime and engage residents with 1:1 technique.
- Work with restorative to ensure any needed programming as needed.
- Conduct rounding as needed to help prevent falls.
- Participate in fall huddles as needed
- Respond promptly to changes in resident’s physiological state and reports modifications or adjustments to the treatment plan within limits of the Plan of Care.
- Communicate resident progress and their response to treatment to appropriate leadership.
- Maintain specialized equipment, such as cushions, wheelchairs, activity tools etc. and coordinates equipment used in Fall Prevention Programming.
- Attend meetings, workshops, seminars and participates in committees as requested/required by community.
- Make suggestions to Quality Safety & Development LPN PIPP for enhanced fall prevention.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Good standing on the State Nursing Assistant registry or appropriate entity
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- CPR certified
