Sanitation Collector

City of Columbus, Kansas is seeking to fill the position of Sanitation Collector. Under the supervision of the City Superintendent, the Sanitation Collector collects solid waste at residences, city, and public facilities, carrying refuse both in containers and bundles to a collection point. He/She assists with the operations of the truck in a safe and appropriate manner and the dumping of refuse materials into the truck. he/she must conduct all activities according to the delivery and collection schedule and all relevant policies and procedures. The proper disposal of waste is vital to the health and well-being of the community. This job requires heavy lifting, bending, stooping, and performing duties in all types of weather.

Must be able to push/pull/carry approximately 75 pounds. Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, and a valid driver’s license. One year of similar or related experience preferred.

This is a non-exempt position with a salary range of $12.90 - $17.60 per hour, pay dependent upon experience. Benefit package includes health, dental, and life insurance, KPERS, sick, and vacation leave.
