+ Education and Experience
- Must be licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Maryland.
- Must be in good standing with the Maryland Board of Nursing.
- Must complete DDA delegating case management training within 6 months of employment.
- Prior experience working with pediatrics, special needs, or mental health population a plus.
- Must be a minimum of 21 years old.
+ Key Responsibilities
- Provide preventative, routine, and emergency health care to all students at the Benedictine School.
- Administer medications as prescribed and per School policy and appropriately document administration. Ensure procurement and safe, effective handling of all medications, including disposal when needed.
- Assess student and work-related staff injuries, treat as appropriate, and document per School policy. Send for outside treatment if beyond scope.
- Complete medical documentation including MARs, Injury Reports, Student immunizations, student medical interventions, etc. as appropriate.
- Report significant medical issues, including injuries, to parents and school administration.
- Monitor physical, dental, and specialist appointments for students. Assist in making and accessing appointments as indicated in School Policy.
- Provide seizure monitoring, care, and follow up as needed.
- Collaborate with full student teams on medical, feeding, behavioral, and psychiatric needs for students.
- Communicate as needed with parents/guardians, physicians, and insurance companies on student nursing-related needs.
- Develop nursing care plans and individualized emergency protocols for students as needed.
- Providing Delegating Nursing support for CMT staff working in School Residential setting (usually group homes) including staff training.
- Document and review medication errors made by nurse or CMT. Provided follow up as needed.
- Complete initial nursing assessment and subsequent assessments at least every 45 days for students residing school group homes.
- Provide "on-call" support to infirmary designee when nurse is not scheduled. This includes availability for phone calls and to be on-site if needed.
