Position Overview

The Scrum Master is responsible for effectively and efficiently managing the development sprints from planning to execution to review in an Agile development environment. This role will include running daily scrums, managing the product backlog, collaborating on requirement documentation, managing support tickets, and unblocking barriers to keep the team moving. The role will be responsible for communicating and collaborating primarily with technical business process, and senior management teams.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Facilitate daily stand-up, iteration planning, sprint review, and iteration retrospective.
  • Manage development projects of medium to high complexity and facilitate sprint releases.
  • Create and analyze business requirement documents and project timelines.
  • Guide team in time-estimating practices and facilitate team estimates.
  • Drive team iteration execution, communicate with management and stakeholders, protect the team from uncontrolled injection of work, and ensure that changes are evaluated and intentional.
  • Manage project conflicts, challenges, and dynamic business requirements to keep operations running at a high level of performance.
  • Work with the team leads to resolve problems and remove project roadblocks.
  • Provide indirect leadership to multiple project resources from various business functions.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Lead team effort in improvements; define and implement improvement stories to increase the velocity and quality of the program.
  • Implement and support principles, rules, and processes.
  • Identify and eliminate impediments proactively and facilitate flow.
  • Maintain team data in project management software to support estimates and execution.
  • Present high level project readouts to senior management.
  • Support cross-functional team dynamics with respect to priorities and scope.
  • Apply excellent communication skills in person, over the phone, and through email.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of project management concepts and skills.
  • Apply advanced experience delivering multiple projects with related objectives.
  • Ability to lead large cross-functional teams.

  • Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability and means to travel between local Exact Sciences locations.
  • Ability to travel 5% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field as outlined in the essential duties; or High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and 4 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 5+ years of experience working as a project manager and/or Scrum Master.
  • 2+ years of experience leading sprints.
  • Demonstrated competency in coaching on implementation of Agile Scrum.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the fundamentals of iterative and incremental development.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Scrum theory, rules, and practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership in working with technical teams to assess and size story/epics.
  • Demonstrated understanding of agile metrics, to include tasks, backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and user stories to analyze and improve sprint planning.
  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to represent both business and technology teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to do postmortem and root cause analysis to help teams continuously improve their practices to ensure maximum productivity.
  • Demonstrable expertise of Agile methodology and frameworks, to include Scrum and Kanban.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Scrum Master certification.
  • PMI Project Management certification.
  • Experience in conceptualizing, documenting, presenting, and selling creative solutions to senior management.

Salary Range:

$85,000.00 - $135,000.00

 

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually.
