South Dakota State University (SDSU) is seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to join our team as an SDSU Extension Educational Technology Communications Assistant. In this role, you will support improving the impact and visibility of SDSU Extension’s educational programs. Whether you’re capturing the excitement of live events, conducting interviews, or producing educational videos, you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your creativity and technical skills.

As the outreach arm of our state’s land grant, South Dakota State University, SDSU Extension provides farmers, ranchers, agri-business people, communities, families, and youth with the research-based information they need to succeed. SDSU Extension meets the changing needs of South Dakotans with progressive outreach services, ranging from one-on-one interaction and forums to 24/7 online access through our website, extension.sdstate.edu. SDSU Extension programs span four key areas: Agriculture and Natural Resources; Family, Food and Wellness; Community Vitality and 4-H Youth Development.

Job Responsibilities: Work collaboratively with SDSU Extension faculty, field specialists, 4-H advisors, and program leaders to enhance and produce educational and promotional materials.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Audio, photo and video equipment and software;
  • Visual storytelling;
  • Digital communication design principles and practices;
  • Customer Service practices;
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
  • Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom); and
  • SDSU Extension’s educational outreach role in the land grant university system.

Skill & Ability to:

  • Provide audio and video production support for audio and video production aspects, from conceptualization to publishing and maintenance;
  • Organize and prioritize multiple simultaneous projects;
  • Work collaboratively with a variety of technical skill levels to deliver consistent, high-quality educational materials;
  • Demonstrate effective communication both verbally and in writing; and
  • Effectively problem-solve.

Required License: Valid driver’s license

Comments: This position is classified as Information Officer. SDSU is a tobacco free environment.
